Weekly Log 

To start off on Monday I was assigned to translate the "Distinctive Features" on the factline.com website.  Most of the references were already translated but there were some that weren't put into english at all.  So I had to create the whole English text by translating word by word into English from German.  This proved difficult because almost all of the words used were ones that I didn't know.  Max also wanted me to be able to go over most of them by the end of the day because he has a presentation tomorow over them.  This put a little bit of pressure on me to finish it but I liked it that way because it kept me focused.    

I continued my work on the References on the factline website.  I went through a few more than last time and was able to catch a few errors.  I was even able to transfer over certain parts of the German that weren't in the english text.  This really helps my vocabulary because a lot of the same words pop up more than once.  The hard part is remembering what I learn because I go through so many new words every day it is hard to keep them all straight.  I can always notice if I have heard the word before but I can't always remember what that word means.

I continues working with translating but for the References this time.  With the References there is a lot of information that is apart of the German site and not the english site.  So I have my hands full with translating and creating the links to the correct sites.  Again Max was gone today so I was left to myself to be independant and figure out what to do on my own.  I like being able to do my work without someone actually having to tell me, it gives me a feeling of self accomplishment.  This week I wasn't able to have my one hour chat with David which I hope we have time next week because I feel as if I learn more German that way than just looking up definitions.
