Stockholm - 179103.1

In the capital of Sweden, the districts selected for participation in the POSEIDON project are characterised as typically deprived neighbourhoods, with a total population of about 49,000 inhabitants. The main part of the areas affected was built in the late 1960s and consists of large-scale housing.

The apartments are in quite good shape, but are considered as not so attractive due to the areas’ shape and their bad reputation. All of the districts affected are today characterized by low employment rates, high dependency on social benefits, high level of immigrants, a very young population, low level of education, lack of service and lack of activities for young people. The lack of flats in Stockholm also makes it difficult for young people to find own flats, which means that there are big families living in very small apartments.
